Performances in Göteborg on 16-19 June .
Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art takes off with a performance program that ventures out into the city’s streets, town squares and parks. In City Excavations, artists are invited to explore the city of Göteborg, allowing for site-specific or route-specific discussions, performances, activities and interventions – from the celestial level with the cosmos and universe to the terrestrial level of the earth’s surface, the underground and the underwater world of the river. Aiming to provoke discussions and experiences that generate insights into the rich texture of the city of Göteborg, the artists in the City Excavations program investigate the unexpected routs of communication, circulation and entanglements that have shaped the city’s unique character. Where some artists demonstrate new ways of seeing the urban environment, revealing forgotten or repressed parts of its history, others ask questions about who the city is for and how we are influenced by its planning. Over three intense days, the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art will be a hub of activities. We invite you to participate in all the works of art!
